There’s no steady paycheck.
There’s no backup plan.
There’s no benefits.

🚂 Most days I feel like I’m on the crazy train on the highway to hell 🔥🔥🔥

But,
When you peel back the layers & evaluate what you HAVE done,
Where you HAVE gone,
And maybe for a moment… you peek back where you came from, 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕫𝕖…

𝓕𝓸𝓻 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂 𝓿𝓪𝓵𝓵𝓮𝔂, 𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓮 𝓲𝓼 𝓪 𝓶𝓸𝓾𝓷𝓽𝓪𝓲𝓷. 🏔

& you dont realize how far up the mountain you are,
Until you take that pause.

That day was a day full of miracles ✨

I hadn’t properly trained in over a month.

My knee was on fire before we even got started.

I thought for sure Id be done by mile 5.

There was absolutely zero fuel on the course. All I had was 2 packages of fruit snacks 😂

The day should not have ended like this photo.
It should have ended in me sneaking off course, hiding my bib, and pretending Im on the subway like a normal human, and not a awol runner…
The cards were for sure stacked against me that day 😂🙈

I’ve never actually put the mantra 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 to a REAL test before. We all say it all the time, but how many of us actually believe it??

I finished because my mind had made itself up back in July when this opportunity came on my plate.

I 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 to be a finisher.

When things got rough, my mind told my body how to feel. Not the other way around.

My knee pain went away like it had never been there at all around mile 5- 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸.

Again, another choice 💕

Life is full of many choices.
Some good.
Some bad.
Some tough.
Some painful.

But if we stop allowing ourselves to be victims of our circumstances, and instead be the 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿,
We can prove to ourselves that 𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒾𝓈 𝒾𝓂𝓅𝑜𝓈𝓈𝒾𝒷𝓁𝑒. 🥇

Sounds morbid, but it’s true. Nobody is promised another day. Each day is a gift.
It’s up to us to spend it wisely. ⏰

I’ve always wanted to run a marathon. But it sat at the end of my bucket list. We all know why 😂 I HATE running lol.

Last spring I had an awkward conversation with my specialist. Yes, I’m on therapy for MS. No, I dont have more brain lesions- BUT nonetheless, my right leg was getting weirder & weirder. (Quick backstory, my right leg collapsing randomly was one of my first symptoms and foot drop is a frequent problem for me in heat & high stress conditions).

It was quite the shocker for me that on paper everything was right as rain, but physically I was having trouble coping.

𝙸𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚖𝚢 𝚕𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚍𝚢𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚖𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝.

I realized that I had put SO much of ME on the back burner. Between the work hustle, kids, life, home, projects, volunteering, and #allthethings…. I stopped doing things simply because I enjoy them. I stopped pursuing things that filled my personal cup. I stopped chasing MY dreams. ✨

I know that my right leg is more than likely not going to be good forever. That’s just a fact of my chronic illness. (And you KNOW when it happens Im getting a pimp ass Gandalf-esque cane 😝).

So I dusted off that old buried bucket list & decided to start with the ones that would be increasingly difficult as I got older. Anddd, starting with “run a marathon” may have been prompted by EVERY doctor reminding me EVERY visit to do some cardio 🤣🤣

But nonetheless,
I knew if I was going to start running to please my drs,
I might as well #dothedamnthing & make it count for a great cause 🧡🧡🧡
